How do you write a fraction in simplest form?

The simplest form of a fraction is an equivalent fraction in which the denominator and numerator have no common factors other than 1. 

The simplest form of a fraction is an equivalent fraction having the fewest number of total parts.

Example 1: To write a fraction in simplest form:

The picture shows that 6 of the 8 children won stuffed animals at the fair , so image of the children won stuffed animals.

Divide the whole group of children into the fewest number of groups to make a fraction equivalent to images.

Four is the fewest number of groups the children can be evenly divided into to show a fraction equivalent to image.

The picture shows that 3 of the 4 groups, or image of the whole group of children won stuffed animals. So the simplest form of image is image.
