Newton’s
Classroom: An Overview of Each Topic
Most topics of
elementary mathematics have three levels, from basic (Level 1), to intermediate
(Level 2), to more complex (Level 3). Within each topic are several
learning components: orientations (short illustrative animations),
warm-ups (interactive
practice), instructional pages (useful reference and study materials),
now-you-try-it (demonstration, followed by interactive practice),
and quizzes with question-specific feedback.
Before students
begin each topic, they take a diagnostic quiz to determine at
which level they should start. Students who are new to the topic's concepts
will likely start at Level 1. After finishing Level 1, they can proceed
to Level 2 or take the Level 1 lesson again. Students who are more familiar with the topic's concepts may be directed to begin with Level 2 or 3, but have the option to begin with Level 1.

Students may
also play a game of strategy—Scavenger Hunt!—after finishing
a topic.
